If you don't know Outside, we are an outdoor shop and cafe in the heart of the Peak District, just a stone's throw from Stanage Edge. Owned and run by two generations of the Turnbull family, we've been a hub for climbers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts for 33 years.
Since the Covid-19 crisis all this has been put on hold. We've been genuinely touched by the kind messages you sent us when we made the difficult decision to close our doors, and by your support and unquenchable optimism. It means a lot to all the Outside staff that our amazing community is backing us to get through this; and we have your backs, too - our plan is to keep the virtual psyche up as much as we can while this crisis lasts.

Online Gear Advice
We will be answering gear questions online and by phone, and James will be spending his isolation time (everyone is currently well!) making back garden gear and training videos and being as silly as possible while he does it. You'll be able to view them on our social media channels and on our website – please see the links below.
While the shop is the heart and soul of our business, we've always taken pride in offering the same exceptional customer service and gear selection at outside.co.uk. Right now we're still trading online with only a few changes to delivery options. We're also working on some new deals and focusing on some gear you might be able to use at home to liven up your lockdown.
Please continue to support us by ordering with Outside where you can; our small but dedicated web team are ready and waiting.
If you aren't in a position to be buying new gear right now, please sign up to our newsletter, and follow us on whichever social media channels float your boat.
It's all about staying in touch until the crazy settles down, we throw our doors wide to the sunshine, and staff start grousing about being stuck in the shop. We can't wait.
We don't need to tell you it's a tough time for climbers, and climbing walls… walls have been closed since March and face an uncertain future in terms of when and how they can open. This is putting our much-loved walls under financial...

We need your help.
UKClimbing is a vibrant web site with rich content and an amazing community. So far, all we've asked of you is that you visit and interact with the site but we are in uncertain times. We need to look at ways to keep the site moving forward whilst maintaining our key aim of allowing free access to everyone to our main content. The site will continue to be mainly funded by a subtle level of outdoor-only advertising but we now need extra support to ensure we can continue to provide the UKC that we all know and love.
You can help us by becoming a UKC Supporter. This can be in a small way or in a larger package that includes discounted products from our sister-publishing company Rockfax.
