Outdoor clothing specialist, Montane, has announced plans to support the 2022 Outside Hope Valley Round in a bid to encourage runners and hikers to take on the challenge of the trail route.

Established in 2019 by the staff and suppliers of the Outside store in Hathersage, the 20-mile route meanders through the hills of the Peak District taking in Leadmill Bridge, Mam Tor and Nether Hurst Farm before circling back to the start point at the store. The route focuses predominantly on defined paths and tracks, though some navigational expertise is advised.

On 28th October 2022 the round will be extended to invite customers and local runners to take part in the one-day event. Both runners and hikers are encouraged to take part in the round that boasts up to 1360m of ascents with an expected completion time of between four and eight hours following the custom map provided by Harvey Maps. Each route finisher will be added to the roll of honour list at the store and will receive a congratulatory Montane Buff.

The Outside Hope Valley Round aims to encourage local trail runners, hikers, and customers of the store to take on the hills of the Peak District and enjoy the benefits of the outdoors while taking in the scenery of the National Park.

James Turnbull, who owns and runs Outside Hathersage said: "The Outside Hope Valley round provides a unique experience through some of the most scenic trails around, for runners and hikers alike. We are so pleased to have Montane on board as supporters of the round. It's a brilliant route, but weather can change rapidly. Montane understands what's required and produce all the gear needed, whether you're travelling at a leisurely pace or breaking records."

Montane's Global Marketing Manager, Matthew Hickman, said: "It is always exciting to support a race, route or event. What makes this new route particularly special is that it has been created with inclusivity in mind. The route caters for both experienced trail runners and less-experienced hikers with the aim of encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors and see more of the Peak District. We are excited to be the first official brand to support the Outside Hope Valley Round and look forward to seeing how it progresses in the future."
