It was fairly unique conditions, I scrambled down there during a hailstorm on the off chance it would pass, and it did about 5 minutes before the sun went down. I think the wet rock and low sun combined to really bring out the red in the sandstone. I also forgot the quick release for my tripod so I had to balance the camera on a rock for the 4 second exposure. I took photos until another hailstorm hit then had to find my way back to Rackwick in the dark whilst being pelted by hail with no headtorch!

Did you rest you camera on a hat or gloves because that sometimes helps in this situation Mike. You might try some radical sharpening in PS. The other problem to overcome is shutter vibration which can be overcome with use of the self-timer. Still a stunning image.

I think its sharp enough! Trouble with sharpening in photoshop is that it brings out the noise in the backgroud, a big problem with the G10. I used the 20 sec self timer to help reduce shutter vibration, it was also quite windy though. I think I did the best I could without being able to use my tripod. Its not technically perfect but its get the message across.

Climbed that last month. The sunset wasn't as red as this. Yeah, the image isn't as sharp as another guy mentioned as well as. You need to sharpen it a bit, mate.

"I NEED to sharpen it", I like UKC because people obviously vote on the strength of the image not its relative technical merit, I don't need to sharpen it but yes it could be a touch sharper.
