Is there supposed to be loads of crevasses on that glacier?

No they're not that bad although you'll need to rope up. There's a couple big clusters of crevasses beneath Lyskamm although they can be given a wide birth. Most of the crevasses are lower down the glacier on the approaches to Castor and Pollux which you'll avoid if approaching from the Monte Rosa hut.
