Gosh. It's a big mountain, Jon. Where specifically are we? My knowledge of some of the modern classics is set in around about the jurassic....

It's on a spectacular pinnacle on the true right bank of the Milieu Glacier. As far as I remember the route is about 6 or 7 pitches, this being the hardest. All very steep and athletic except the first one off the glacier which is quite delicate. We took the first téléphérique to Grands Montets and got just about the last one down from Lognan. Great route. I think if Piola was doing it now, he probably wouldn't have bolted this pitch...?

... and forgot to say the pinnacle is called La Vierge and it's got half a dozen-ish other routes on it.

Thanks Jon. Got it. Indeed spectacular. You guys are fast!
Oh to be young and fit again! - except that I'd not have come close when I was young and fit. Of course I'd have been wearing big boots too....
