Johnny was teaching a small group of us at Carn Barra. After doing some other routes he led Grand Plage so we could second it and practice some of the movement skills we'd been doing. Before packing up he did it in airwalk trainers! Unfortunately I managed to mess up the camera for the bottom section, but got most of the main slab. Johnny slipped once after the crux moves, but otherwise did all moves.

How did you find Grand Plage?

Tough going at the beginning! I was hoping I'd be able to crank through the crux when seconding but it took quite a few falls before I got it. Once onto the slab it went fine, although it still wasn't easy. I reckon I could lead the slab with wide eyes and shaky legs but not ready for the bottom bit yet.

Yeah, for sure. I normally save the good climbs for the on-sight but it was definately worth having a play on this one. It really opened up a few doors to what I can stand on, and the crux is about the hardest thing I've managed to climb outside as well.
