not a puff adder (please correct if I'm wrong). The "zigs" always point towards the tail on one of those, but the UK's are symmetrical.

Bloody hell, if they have puff adders in Cornwall, then I'll stay in Glos with the proper adders!!! ;-)

And yes, it is a female european adder, puff adders being their much more deadly african cousins!!
