Wow! This brings back memories. Did it in 1974. Bonington had reputedly pulled off a hold and declared it impossible. We hitched up from Yorkshire and warmed up on Agony. There didn't seem to be much gear; I placed nothing on the top pitch. Then we did Triermain Eliminate in mistake for Harlot Face. One runner at the bottom; another in the middle; and a wasp inside my Tee shirt. After getting ratarsed in the pub that night and uncomfortably dossing nearby (I managed to fall in a stream, inside my sleeping bag) Ghost was duly despatched the next day. We hitched to Ambleside and got stuck into the bevvies once again. The news of our ascent (Ghost was erroneously reputed to be the hardest route in the Lakes) went round the pub like wildfire. All very embarrasing.
I'm sure your ascent was much more competent than ours'. Thanks for the memories.
