Is that the Ernest Marples who was a Minister for Transport back in the 50s / 60s? That Ernest Marples had climbing connections. He was, I believe, President of the reknown Wallasey Climbing Club at that time!

Yes it was that Ernie Marples, the other climber is my Grandfather, it dates from c1932

Thanks for that info. I was a member of the Wallasey but never met EM. He must have been tied up with ministerial duties! He was `famous` for some crass comment/statement he made but I can`t remember what it was now!

I always thought that move/contortion was really hard and above its grade.
