Frank Canning recently posted a photo of The Thing on the Cromlech, a climb with an awesome reputation at one time as maybe the hardest route on that side of the Pass. I led The Thing in 1961 and it was certainly hard, but I thought that Hangover came close and that the companion route Surplomb was harder.

On an early ascent of Hangover my second pulled a block off the top pitch. Before that ,People were using that pitch as an easy alternative to Kaisergebirge Wall!Climbing 3rd, Ginger Cain found itquite hard.
