Nice set of photographs,we seem to have been traveling in the same direction. I may have missed this bit of the coast so I will have to return to complete this section.

If you stuck to rights of way you will have missed this bit. It's easy to get to though - park at Cotestones Farm near Warton (layby) and go through the gate and just keep following the track out past the stock car track (yuck!) by the Keer. You will soon come across the slag heaps on the edge of the sands - watch the tides!

Thanks for that. We past Archers Cafe at Red bank Farm having come from the Midland Hotel at Morcambe, then on to the caravan site just past Wild Duck Hall. We then followed the salt marsh for a short distance turning the bend in the coast line where we could see some white clifs in the distance. Would this be the slag resedue you mentioned? We turned back at this point due to lack of time and had a very nice drinkie poos at Archers Cafe.

Yes, the white-looking cliffs are the slag over on the other side of the Keer estuary. You can get to Cote Stones along the Lancs Coast Way but it would be easier just to drive there and then walk out. There isn't much place else to go from the end of the slag heaps except onto the sands (at low tide, watch out for soft stuff!). It's a short walk but interesting!
