About sums up the year. Rain, wet bouldering mat, satched down jacket and a general grey colour. Lovely.

How come we can't give scores to it, must be photo of the week, or possibly year.

The chalkbag shows at least a certain degree of optimism.

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't know why you can't vote for this though. It's perhaps due to the recent naked 'controversies' for want of a better word surrounding people in photographs who aren't actually climbing.

Seems I set the details to people (no voting) when I uploaded this and therefore no votes, although I was sure I put it on bouldering. Anyway, voting is now available.

Needs a snorkel for full realism.

Photo of the year - brilliant! (And just shows how you can occasionally get something deeply worthwhile out of even the most dire circumstances.)

Thank you all very much for your comments and votes. Without you I will never have fullfilled this long held ambition of being named photo of the week. Thank you to the people at UKC for providing this great competition. Thank you to my dad for the oar.
The irony of this creation being of probably the worst quality of any image in my gallery has not escaped me. Of course the idea was everything, which you all fortunately liked. Some of you maybe wondering why areas of the image are in focus while others are not, even though some of the conflicting areas are at the same depth of field. As you can see, it was p*ssing it down again so I put the camera in a plastic bag! The bouldering mat and I were supported by a deck chair in two foot of water. The shutter was triggered by a programmable shutter remote. Odd now to think that I almost didn't upload this, as I thought the figure too large in the frame (post Christmas diet now in progress).
You've made my year and its only January, let the sun dance begin...
