See thread on the subject of Ravensheugh cleanup. This route was perfectly clean.
The crag will always need a clean, it's always been lichenous, maybe a little more so since we got clean air, so I don't know where you get the "recent years" bit from. Not green, as in grass, though, but lots of luminous green Leprose lichen on the Trouser Legs, there's nothing you can do about that really without a chemical attack.
