It's a good photo, but why take such a big rack if you've climbed the route 100 times before and presumably know exactly what gear you're going to need on lead and at the belay?

Quite right - I know the exact 5 pieces I generally use. I guess it's safer than leaving the gear unguarded at the top, and the big hex is handy if the gulls get stroppy.

I have noticed that this is a difference between British climbers and American climbers. British climbers often climb with their "standard rack", whereas Americans tend to take what they think they need for a specific pitch.
