Classic Chris - a great log of your first outings, but you don't say who you were with. When I first looked at the post, late at night after a few beers, I wondered how you started out in New York ! After reflection I guess NY meant North Yorkshire ! Did you keep the diary going ?
I posted a log of my own first climbs some time ago on UKC and I wish I had kept it up, unlike JCW who did and is just about to publish a book which should be very interesting.
Regards,
Boje

I started the diary in 1965 and kept filling it in until 1971 - by then I had moved to Sheffield and was climbing several times a week. With that, studies, beer and ladies I didn't have enough time to keep the diary going!

Very good! Looking back, are you glad you wrote these down and have a record? I have recorded every single day out in the mountains since my very first ascent of Yr Aran in 1991 - date, route taken, weather, interesting things, how I felt, plus superb days out get a blue splodge!

Keeping a log is definitely the way to go - although you miss out on those delicious moments where you swear you haven't done a route - "but surely I must have?" - and then, on digging out an old guidebook you find you did it 20 years ago. All in all, I wish I'd had the self discipline.
Quite prolifically busy on 30.8.65!
