Did the gear rip, I remember thinking that the gear was pretty good when I led it?

Pete - he's fine. Walked out of hospital seven hours later with a sprained wrist and a cut on the head. Not bad for 8 metres to the ground!
The gear did rip, he placed a rock 10 to the left of the good kneebar where you move right, and then subsequently fell off and ripped it. Opportunities for better kit were definitely missed from what I can gather, although I wasn't belaying.
A hard lesson, certainly!
