unique photo. how did you capture the stars? has the moon light on the rock been enhanced in any way?

This shot took a bit of effort. I set my camera up on a tripod, set it to a 15 sec exposure time, and told it to take a picture every minute for 1 hr. This was the best shot. The 15 sec exposure explains the stars, and also the fact that my headtorch seems to be shining up and down the rock at the same time (that isn't moonlight!). The blue glow at the bottom is from my belayer's LED headtorch.

hey i lead this climb on Sunday (in the light), my first VS after a long while away. I had seen this photo before on the database and thought it awesome, now its looking even better. Beautiful.

Cheers! It's a great route. Now you've done it, you should go back and headtorch it - no harder, just loads more exciting!

5* for the effort - nice to see people thinking about their photography rather than snapping away whilst trying to belay.

A definite 5* for both the magic of the final image and the imaginative effort involved. The sky could still be cleaned up a bit in Photoshop, especially top left.

As for the noise, I'd recommend the Noise Ninja plugin for cleaning it up - I believe they have a demo?
