From Callum's first attempt at the route. Unfortunately on this occasion he couldn't manage to pull through the strenuous crux moves right near the top, however Callum returned just over a week later and managed to climb the route cleanly on his second attempt. The route features steep, technical, sequency, bold climbing, all in an absolutely wild position high on the northern buttresses of Sàil Garbh. From a personal point of view I’ve wanted to photograph this route ever since seeing Colin Threlfall’s outstanding images of Guy Robertson and Adam Russell on the first ascent back in 2015, so a big thanks to Callum for letting me tag along to get some photos of him on the route!

I don't know if it's the image scaling UKC are using, but it makes this image look, to me, fractionally out of focus.
When you zoom in of course, it's pin sharp. Fantastic photo, fantastic climbing from Calum.

Colin - yes, once the sun had risen high enough to clear barrel buttress the face had light on it just for a couple of hours before it swung south and was shaded again. It was probably one of the last days of the year that this would happen.
Sean - no face sadly, I'm learning that climbing photography is often about compromise though, as it's quite rare that the right composition, body position and face/facial expression will all line up in a single image!
