What's this?

A howff is a shelter, usually naturally occuring under boulders and the like. You can doss in them when you are out and about on the hill. This particular howff is quite a large one, almost like a wee cave under the ground. Has a flat floor to doss, and a fire area if inclined with an air passage to let smoke through.

Dir you scratch that no4 on the rock so the postie knows where to deliver your mail?
No wonder you have a sore back if that's where you kip. ;)

Do you not see the 'NNY' scratched above the no4? It spells out FANNY. Anyway, that's just my summer hoose on the East coast, should see my West coast digs.

I'm just jealous cause it looks a bit more upmarket than the hovels we have in Ayrshire.
You fancy a cave swap?
bawjaws - 18/Aug/07
Well, only if you promise to do some cavework whilst you're there? See that wet patch at the side, that's where I've been practising peeing standing up (pretty impressive eh) and it needs a good scrubbing down now.
