I think i'd have climbed the face, looks much more appealing than squirming into that thing. However, would stemming it like a corner climbd take one off route?

The face on the left would be a nice route (it's not in the guidebook), but harder than the chimney. There are almost no holds on it, which is why I did most of the climb in the chimney and only came out when it got too thin.
