there had been a massive snowfall as we walked up the night before, (which made us lose our way a bit) We were intending to do the Barre des Ecrins, but as we walked towards it in thigh deep snow, we changed our minds and headed for the Roch Faurio - a bit easier! Later we could see many parties retreating from the Barre. I dont know if anyone made it that day.
