I like this picture a lot -- lovely colour and nice warmth on the rocks, and you couldn't hope for a more dramatic sky. The bright area looks very burnt out -- did you use a ND grad? Also the middle-ground (either the green valley or the boulder field on the right) appear a bit too small to add depth, imho obviously! Perhaps a longer lens could have drwan them in more? Don't mind the horizon in the middle, but not sure if a pleasing overall balance is achieved. I would have been tempted to compose more around the potholes, perhaps in a portrait orientation?

Thankyou Jon for such a useful and helpful critique. I used 2 exposures and several RAW conversions to apply the ND grad digitally- I hate it when its obvious one has been used and the sky is inexplicably dark. I possibly could have got more detail in the sun, I'll have another look. Thanks for the composition ideas too.

The clouds are phenomenal! You’ve created excellent atmosphere, the HDR’ing is done nicely and I quite like the composition too.
May be one or two little tweaks to the reflective exposures like Jon suggests, but all-in-all a fantastic photo.

A stunning picture that smacks you in the face. So much more than just another sunset. A real feeling for Gritstone moorland. Well done Dan.

I agree a fantastic photo. I guess when you ask for a critique you have to also wonder what kind of comments. As a climber that likes photography (rather than a photographer that likes climbing) theres nothing really worth changing in my mind.
