God what a vegetated choss-heap!!

... but has some great climbs on it! Have you done any?

Only Cruel Sister, Cascade Direct, Arcturus and Capella. But I am both allergic to and morally averse to walk-ins hence the few routes (and aiming to come back for Mother Courage but the approach to that one really is vegetated choss). Lovely spot though - if one has to slog up to a mountain crag then the amazing view from here is worth it.
And yes....great climbing despite the unwholesome appearance from a distance.

You don't call that a walk-in, do you?

I call it an epic conflict of puny pampered road-side ticker versus "the mountain".

i was ready to head back after the walk in, never mind the climb aswell! would hardly call it a walk in, more of a hike in ;)

You young folks and walking! It's all part of the day out, mate. You should be up to Pavey in about 40 mins at your age! :oD
I see you list Anglezarke as one of your best climbing experiences - and you've been to Pavey. Baffling! But then I'm just a grumpy old git, what would I know?.

Hah, I like it, old skool "full days out" vs. nu skool "craggers".
BTW, my initial comment wasn't entirely taking the piss. I genuinely do like Pavey and think it's a great crag. I am amazed though how, overall, it looks so rambly, but when you're close up on a route there's great, clean rock. Just one of the curious features of the crag. Obviously I appreciate this photo shows it after a grim summer too, though.

You're absolutely right, from a distance it looks like you'd never find enough continuous good rock for all those classic routes. I'm not sure the wet summer has made all that much difference to overall appearance though. It's never looked that great. It could be one of those Mid-Wales crags that looked so good on Phil Gibson's lovely crag drawings. Then when you see them... The difference was that in the case of Mid Wales first appearances were fairly accurate... Just going to wash my mouth out.

Climbed the long chimney on right side of photo, went up Jacks Rake to do Cooks Tour, chickend out, did The Gun. First ever climbs 1954. No slings no crabs, only people on the crag. Thanks for the great photo.
