Surely you mean when they are still around at 8am! Worst Cairngorms midges I've ever had today.

I used to have this theory that the worst midges were on the west coast of Scotland and that they lessened further east as the climate got cooler and drier. An absolute nightmare camping in Glen Tilt stuffed this theory.

I'll be off shortly into the Dales and North Pennines hoping (likely in vain) that the swines will leave me alone. I don't usually take leave in August but decided to cancel earlier months when we couldn't travel.
