Wyndcliff Quarry

As you approach the crag from the south / M4, the A466 is signed as closed for about 0.5miles before the normal parking area for access Wyndcliff Quarry, there seems to be some relaying of the road surface but if you dont mind throwing a tiny bit of caution to the wind you should have no problem making it to the car park.

One our our group members tried to make it to the crag via an (unnecessary) alternative route and ended up with a flat type on a pothole.

In reply to mcd0well:

The works are being done on the roadside just to the south of Wyndcliff quarry. Over a year ago they started scraping off some dodgy rocks and then seem to have been scratching their heads for a very long time.

In theory you should be able to drive to the Wyndcliff car park.

As to potholes - most minor roads round the Wye valley and Forest of Dean are well knackered after this winter.

In reply to all:

It's usually possible to use the Forestry car park. The guys working on the road occasionally have to close the road a bit further south, but they're not preventing access to the car park for any longer than necessary and, to be fair, they're being pretty helpful and friendly to everyone. If you're unlucky enough to hit the road closure further south, you can drive a short way up the Wyndcliffe Court road and park as if for the Wye Valley Walk; then walk down through the woods and then down the road to the Quarry - about 15 mins. Or - and here's a really novel idea - do some trad climbing at Wynd Cliff main crags
