Do you need to have seen the other recent Bond films for No Time to Die to make sense?

And would a ten year old boy enjoy it, or is it a bit long.

No spoilers please.

Don’t think there’s much carry-over from previous movies. I found the pace sagging a little about a third of the way through but it picked up nicely in the second half. Thought it could have been edited a little more vigorously but it didn’t feel massively over long.

A ten year old will probably understand the tech better than me! Recommended.

It's shit.  Not as shit as some Bond films but more shit than others. I believe it's rated 12 or 12a.  Lots of people get killed and it has a few scary moments and mildly baffling array of villains.

Back story required? no.

Suitable material for a nervous child before bedtime? no.

Hard to keep awake while you are accompanying the child? A bit. In my case I was aided by being able to tut-tut the popcorn throwing teenage morons taking flash photos of the screen in front of me which added more spice than the plot.

Main question I had at the end was does Remi Malek actually ever act or does he just wear different make up and read an autocue out loud while swivelling his eyes independently like a chameleon?

My supplementary questions were: is all this product placement worth it? Followed by did range rover pay for this (as in no bad press)?

I can't discuss the child's questions without spoilers.

Edit: I should add it is too long by about an hour

There are a couple of characters who were in Spectre, but I haven't seen that since it came out and certainly can't remember the plot, and I had no problem following it. Perhaps not the best film to use as an introduction to Bond though.

I really liked it, Craig's Bond films managed to alternate between great and rubbish!

Knowledge of the last one is useful but not essential, I.e who blofeld is and bonds relationship with love interest. I enjoyed it but not as easy going as some bond films for a 10 year old due to death of some characters (well at least my nephew's wouldn't like it).

I will reserve my opinion of it until you've seen it.

But I wouldn't take a 10yo to see it.

It was far too long for this 46 year old.

Not to make sense, but recurring characters appear.

It may be too long for a 10 year old or an adult expecting non stop action. I didn't find it too long but anyone with ADHD might struggle.

I've not seen the most recent one but Casino Royal and Skyfall were quite enjoyable, as far as Bond films go. I'd imagine they're worth watching to set the tone for the Daniel Craig Bond, even if you don't necessarily need to have seen them to keep up with what's going on.

There's a lot more depth to the character than the previous Bonds I think, and the more recent films go some way to explaining some of his less desirable character traits.

My 2 kids (16 boy, 17 girl) both enjoyed it and neither had seen previous Craig Bond films. I thought it worthy of its 12a rating rather than a PG.

My son and I had watched Dr No the night before to intro him to Bond a bit and he thought there were lots of refs to that in it.

Our son (12) liked it, but he knows all the other Bonds...he is a fan.  It is overly long though IMHO and the ending.... Worth watching if you like James Bond, but take lots of popcorn and sweets and drinks etc

The torture scene in Casino Royale would be too much for a 10yo, imho.

The unwanted sexual advances/harassment (rape?) scenes in Thunderball and Goldfinger are pretty unpalatable by today's standards.

Agree pretty much with this review - but having said that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Would I take my ten year old?  No.

It was too much for me too, I can tell you.

No, but they would help.

Probably, but interest would start to wane after the titles (which are a little way into the film).  And I'd not recommend taking him to see it at all, if I'm honest.

Yes, almost to the point where it seemed out of character.  Bond’s dialogue doesn’t usually extend to more than a couple of bald assertions and a wise crack.  By the end of this one he’s straying into moral philosophy!

Its a Bond film. None of them make any sense!
