Chanced across an old Children's Film Foundation film 'Eagle Rock' on the BFI player (free bit) https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-eagle-rock-1965-online. "A teenage boy breaks all the rules of rock climbing to reach the top of an off-limits Lake District mountain". The script is clunkily didactic and the acting is the usual quality for this kind of thing, but it is still a worthwhile hour's watch (if you're a climbing history nerd). Interesting to see techniques of running belays and rope abseils pre-modern gear. The instructors are played by Jim Cameron, who founded the Langdale MRT, and Bryan Marsh, who ran climbing courses locally.

Thanks for that... wow! It's amazing how little common sense was on display ... tying on with the knot at the back, arbitrary use of runners, belaying on marginal nubbins...

I only started climbing 3 years after that film was made,  I'm sure we were better than that.

In 1965 only Americans said "off-limits"!  Out of bounds.

But thank you for finding this delight!
