Yep, up these with there best of them but for me Uncle Buck was good. Candy seemed to be a lovey man, sadly missed.

flicking around on the remote the other day and came to Home Alone. I thought oh no, not again but it was the airport scene and big John made an appearence, I forgot he was even in that film. Made it watchable again.

Stripes for me, one of the few American comedies I find really watchable.

e's not in it much, and his scenes at the end are not classic, but the best film he's been IN, is National Lampoon's Vacation.

The best film he's STARRED in...well maybe PTA I suppose. His final film Wagons East wasn't as bad as people said though. I liked it.

Actually it was Canadian Bacon (according to IMDB)

ooooooh! I've out straggled the straggler

I liked him in Splash. Added some character to an otherwise dull movie.

Uncle Buck

Grreat under rated film.

Classic line after getting the third degree from McCauley Culkin's character.

Buck (wearily) "Why so many questions"?

McCulkin (deadpan) "I'm a kid, it's my job"

See also: 1941, The Blues Brothers, Splash, and, er, JFK!

I think we all forgot Spaceballs too.

I always rather enjoyed Armed and Dangerous, Volunteers and The Great Outdoors too.

Also according to imdb.com, in "trivia" on Wagons East...

"John Candy died during filming. His few remaining scenes were either not filmed, or were filmed using a stand-in, then re-written not to involve him. His second bar sequence re-uses footage from his earlier bar sequence. "

I guess Canadian Bacon was completed before Wagons East, but released afterward (sure it was straight-to-video in the UK)
So you could argue it either way. I would say that dying on the set of a film tends to make that film an actor's last one though :-P

If the film is completed and released e.g. Wagons East, Brainstorm, The Crow. Doesn't count if the film was abandoned like the one Marilyn Monroe had started.
