I swam with seahorses once off the coast of Tunisia.

Just thought I'd share that

In reply to Crispy haddock: don't they have some unusual sexual feature- the males get pregnant or something?

In reply to Lancs Lad:

I'm still quite a fan of the Seahorses, less because of John Squire/Stone Roses connection but more to do with the fact that they wrote some really great songs and the folk connection was quite strong with Chris Helmes vocals and songwriting.

Bootleg MP3's of the never released 2nd album are here: http://www.john-squire.com/seahorses/mp3.html

The B-Sides of the CD singles are worth tracking down too...

In reply to Lancs Lad: Great Album, some occasionally dodgy lyrics though.

Doesn't the album have some wierd bonus track 99 or something?

In reply to Lancs Lad:

"The Seahorses" is an anagram of "He hates roses"

IIRC from childhood, the male has a pouch like a kangaroo does and stores the eggs and nurtures them while they're growing into seahorse babies...
dark_star 27 Jan 2006
In reply to Crispy haddock: were you a sea horse in your childhood? and now you've become a haddock?
 Crispy Haddock 27 Jan 2006
In reply to dark_star:
No I have never spent any time in a man's sac....
eeeeeew

The moniker came from Scuba Diving.

"Strap-on Sally chased us up the alley
We feared for our behinds"

as I recall.
 Chris Fryer 27 Jan 2006
In reply to Richard: or better;

"We lived in a dogfish eggcase
you could barely call it home
Sorry little lot no roof on top
But the fish left us at home
Try a little more said the girl next
door it's time to roam

Mad Lizzy Crumbs blind cobblers
thumbs were a sight to behold
She was a rum old slapper and we always
tried to get her pants off when she phoned

God I'd forgotten all about them! Going to have to dig out the CD now. I think I avoided listening to them for ages as I had it on my walkman while trudging through the Australian summer sun trying to sell books door-to-door to earn the money to move on to the next city.
