I've searched several old croatia posts but looking for information about dalmatia mainly. any help very very very much appreciated...

Heading out to split at the end of march and plannng to climb around Omis. We won't have a car and are intending/having to do it very much on the cheap. Have heard that the grades are pretty stiff throughout the country which's a bit worring. climbing 6a+ consistently indoors and occasionally more but hoping that there's be enough within that area to keep me and my climbing partner occupied. considering heading out to hvar for a spot of dws possibly as well but not sure how worthwhile this would be without a car. also wondering how easy it is to get to paklenica (and other areas maybe) from split in case we want split our time. planning on getting the croatia guidebook by boris culic in next few days.

all info welcome.
cheers,
danny

Hi Danny,

Good news! Omis has one perfect sector with around 30 routes between 5a and 6a+ and from the campsite you can walk to the crag. Hvar is also an option, even without a car, just stay in an apartment or camp near the crags. Then to answer your last question, it is really easy to get to Paklenica as all buses heading south stop at Starigrad (=Paklenica). All this kind of information is described in the Rock Climbing Atlas South Eastern Europe and for a glance see some example pages of Croatia:

dont worry about hvar theres tons of cheap places to stay and also the ferries go there constantly, and when your there the buses are excellent and really cheap. Have a good trip man, croatia is wicked.

Nice one. execellent. that crag sounds perfect. I think we'll be camping and hammock-ing (if its warm and dry enough). Is travel in and around Paklenica ok without a car?

Cheers, very useful. I reckon we might end up staying down in the south, although i do fancy some multi pitch and the stuff at omis all seems to have at least on ehard pitch on it. Anyway, can't wait.

Guidebooks ordered,
Danny.

In reply to DannyC: I climbed in Omis and Brela last year and they are both good.I recommend you get the guidebook and give Boris Cujic a call, he might be able to put you in touch with some of the locals. Always good to have local knowledge and they are a friendly lot. I dont think the grades are hard, just a bit variable on some of the routes.
