Ethiopian Airlines & crashpads

I am travelling with Ethiopian Airlines next month to Rocklands. Its baggage policy states “The maximum sum of the three dimensions (length + width + height) of each bag shall not exceed 158 cms”. This theoretically vetoes a typical crashpad. Has anyone had any recent experience travelling with a crashpad on Ethiopian Airlines? Was this rule strictly enforced? How much should I be prepared to be clobbered for at the airport...?

Thanks

Daniel

Is that for carry on or checked? Seems rather restrictive for the latter.

I took a pad to ethiopia with ethiopian airlines as checked baggage two years ago with no problems. Dont know if things have changed since though.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm delighted to report Ethiopian Airlines have confirmed I can take my crashpad as part of my free luggage allowance!

Crikey, there are some nervous travellers on here; I've used Ethiopian quite a lot in the last two years and they've never crashed or even clobbered me.
