I'll be in Ellmau for a coouple of weeks this summer and have been googling to try to find bouldering in the area but without much success - does anyone know of any in the area?

If you have a car, zillertal with lots of excellent possibilities is about 45min to 1h away.
In reply to Tony Holdsworth: Thanks Alpinist63 a quick google showed that Zillertal is the spot to aim for.

There is little bouldering to be had in the Wilderkaiser (Kaisergebirge). There are occasional boulders to be found high up in the mountians but I'd personally not bother with the effort of going up there to boulder. A lot of locals just 'boulder' out the start of the sport routes there-about.
There is a couple of places south of Salzburg, both reasonable - http://members.a1.net/maxwen/klamm.htm and another I can't find for the moment. If you look in the bookshops in Ellmau or better still Saalfelden, there is a sport climing book that also has a topo for the other place.
In the absence of bouldering...there is stacks of other things to do....sport climbing, scrambling, mountain biking, high alps.......My family is local to the area. If you want a full run-down send me mail and I'll send you my number. Call me & I'll tell you what you need to know.
In reply to Tony Holdsworth: Jules thank you for your very complete reply. The holiday will be mainly about walking with my wife and some Via Ferrata on other days - I was just hoping to find a bit of bouldering to keep the arms in trim. I'll definitely look up the sport guide in Sallfelden (or Ellmau if it's there). Thanks again, Tony
