I am heading to Morocco for 3 weeks in October and I'm trying to sort out a hire car, although most places have lots of horrible reviews.

I have looked at the recommendations from Climb-Tafraout and from the UKC article but these just refer to comparison sites and not directly to providers.

Does anyone have some good personal experiences and recommendations for a supplier?

Aircar and Locationauto are offering less than £300 for 3 weeks but there are lots of differing reviews for these agencies.

I can't remember what supplier we used I'm afraid but it was at the airport. Doesn't need saying probably but do remember to check the car carefully before and keep an eye on during. We did the usual fine tooth comb inc. tyres on pickup and had a feel of the tracking when we left the airport. It was out and in the space of 1 1/2 weeks it went through to the wire. Didn't bother telling the company - it was a couple of hours back from tafraoute each way. A local we met organised his friend to throw another tyre on it for about 20 quid so we could save the time.

Other than that the car was solid and went far and above what it was designed for

Hired average small car from airport March 2020 - no issues at all - think it was hertz but they all seemed to be serviced by same dudes in car park - roads good there - really quiet- only took it off road once and wasn’t really necessary- if you pay for insurance there’s no worries- they just sting you at end for cost of washing car but there is diy jet wash at airport 👍I always just go with best recent recommendations on booking site you’re going through -as they’re more up to date than a guidebook 👍good luck

We used First Driver Rent a car when I went a few years ago, recommended by Paul Donnithorne I think.

I would definitely recommend booking through a third party.

We had a car from Hertz one year and the spare tyre was knackered. So we had to buy one in Tafaroute.

Hertz tried to give us the runaround, but Auto Europe reimbursed us and we heard no more about it.

Watch your speed, and I will not drive after dark.

Enjoy.

I tried to look for this company as recommended in Paul's article however I ended up on a comparison site with a similar name. I have found the actual company now I messaged them, although the prices on the website seem very competitive anyway.

I've always been nervous about rental cars although I've never had any issues. I always get excess insurance through RAC, it works out cheaper than the rental company and gives nice piece of mind.
