Hi there,
first time posting here.
i am traveling to UK on the 13 of August until 21st , looking for advice on what i can do.
i lead sport 6c+ , confident followed Trad, multi pitch but never lead. looked into taking trad courses but prices are very expensive.
thinking of staying in lake district and to see if possible to do some bouldering.
still plans are open, appreciate any tip
A good place to start when looking for someone to teach and coach lead climbing is by seeking out the services of either a Mountaineering Instructor: http://www.mountain-training.org/associations/ami or British Mountain Guide: http://www.bmg.org.uk/ as holders of either of those two awards will have been assessed to teach what you're looking for.
If you're only here for a week I think you barely have enough time to get to grips with placing gear. If you want to go climbing and get some routes done you might be better off sticking to sport climbing. Though at 6c+ I don't think there's very much in the Lake District. The main place there is Chapel Head Scar but most of the climbing is harder than 6c+.
Best place is probably Portland on the South coast.
I'd be available 13-15 (maybe 16th) Aug for some climbing (I have all the gear) if you're down south (I'm based near Portsmouth) and would be happy to take you through some trad techniques and climbs. Otherwise, also happy just to hit some sports crags along the south coast (Swanage/Portland).
Hi,
If visiting the Lakes, don't bother with sport climbing, it's not a patch on the trad here. There's also plenty of very good bouldering. Here's a few trad venues to consider: http://www.mountain-journeys.co.uk/lake-district-rock-climbs.html
Feel free to get in touch if you'd like ideas for bouldering too.
Many Thanks for the offer but i had to change the dates a bit, waiting for few things to confirm but most likely postponed for the first two weeks of September.
i am going to be travelling from Jordan, will be based in London.
