Hi, just back from a couple of weeks in Catalunya on the edge of the Serra de Montsant. No matter how often we go –we did six weeks in the spring – there is always something new to discover. Its a great place for the hiker and trail runner as well as climbing - the run along the butte from Alforja down to La Morera de Montsant is brilliant; as are all the trails on the rolling hillsides above the buttresses of Serra de Montsant. I doubt many climbers bother to make the hike/scramble up above Raco de Missa, but it is worth the effort on a rest day. The view back down on the crag is stunning. We stayed here at Moli del Post http://www.molidelpont.com/en/ which is an ancient mill converted into three 'terraced' houses. It is a great place for those who want to make a holiday of it, and was used by climbers from Northern Europe as a base for Siurana and Montsant while we were there. El Falco is five minutes up the road and the trail run from the house up to and around the Panta is really good. Couldn't recommend it enough - the owners Pep and Gloria live in Reus but are on hand to help out with anything. The huge chimneyed barbecues are a great way to end the day with a glass of Priorat wine. Cant wait to go again.
