What routes are universally considered classics/have outstanding quality and impressive beauty?
Rebuffat's 100 finest routes in the Mont Blanc Massif is a good starting point.
Plus the other volumes in the same series to other areas (Valais, Oberland, Ecrins etc), although I don't think any of the others were ever translated into English
