This is a documentary series available on Netflix following Air Zermatt carrying out it's rescue work in the Swiss Alps from two bases in Zermatt. I was shocked by the number of call outs they get , particularly in the skiing season when they can get up to 25 call outs a day. Very well filmed and some pretty dramatic footage. The crevasse rescue work in particular is sobering. Some skilful flying required to pluck injured, and sometimes sadly dead, climbers and extreme skiers from some very steep terrain, and from piste skiing accidents.
Very professional team of pilots, mountain rescue specialists, paramedics, doctors and air mechanics keeping their fleet of 9 helicopters in pristine condition. Many lives saved because they are able to transfer very severely injured climbers and skiers quickly and directly to the specialist trauma hospitals in Visp and Berne
Worth watching for the beautiful and harsh mountain scenery, and the camaraderie and professionalism of the team.
