We're heading down to the alpds from the UK today and are looking to get acclimatised around the AD grade with a view to climb routes up to AD+ to D. Due to warm temps in main alps, does anyone know of routes that are more likely to be in condition in the Ecrin?

Reports are showing the Alps to be suffering from high temps and a lot of bare rock on traditionally snow routes for this time of year.

Any advice greatly appreciated

I live on the southern edge of the Ecrins, its been a very dry & frequently hot spring/early summer although there's been some storms & heavy rain (snow at altitude) over the last few days. I had a view across the the higher hills around Ailefroide last weekend & they had much less snow than normal for the timeof year.

My favourite weather website for here is https://www.meteoblue.com/ - usually fairly reliable

Thanks Doug. It's a shame everywhere seems quite lean on the snow this year. We'll give the Ecrins a go and keep an eye out for a good weather window. At least we can do some hiking for acclimatising whilst we are there.

Cheers.
