Hi,

I'm having a clear out and have some old DMM cams and quickdraws. They are over 10 years old and need to be retired. Does anyone know anywhere that will recycle them?

Unless the cams really are completely knackered from falls, with a resling they could see plenty of use by someone else who can’t afford new ones. Otherwise I don’t think there is much that can be done with them aside from how any other small amount scrap metal would be recycled.
As for the quickdraws I think outside in hathersage has a bin for soft gear but It might just be ropes I cant remember.

If near Manchester I will happily take any old gear going.

Metal has no fixed lifespan, yes krabs will be heavier than modern kit but will be fine to continue using for racking or as bailout krabs or general use around the home.

Scavenger Gear in Sheffield repurpose old gear, think there are a few drop off points.

The info on reslinging DMM cams and torque nuts can be found here.

No need to chuck them unless they're really knackered 😉
