After washing my goretex jacket for the first time using Grangers Performance wash followed by a good spraying of Repel Plus I was disappointed to find that the water repelling treatment was very ineffective. Instead of the water beading off as it did when the jacket was new much of the fabric became saturated after only a few minutes in a moderate downpour. I applied the product as per instructions so can only ssume its a rubbish product. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similarly poor result using this product and are there actually any effective treatments available that can restore an equivalent water repellency function to a new garment.

I've had success following this procedure - and using Grangers products:

I think effective treatments are now illegal for ever so we'll all have to deal with getting a wee bit damp.
