Hi All,

My second question on gear this week so apologies!

Looking to get a double self inflating mattress and can't decide between the vango shangri-la II 10 or the Zempire monstamat. Any suggestions please? Is it better putting two together?

I'll only be camping in the UK and don't want to spend more than £200.

Thanks!

I'd go for two singles if I were you.

My experience is doubles are less comfy, when one person moves the other gets bounced around - harder to get a good night's sleep,

Hi,

As others have, said two singles is usually more comfortable. Non self inflating airbeds can be picked up for £10 - £20 and a foot pump for another £5.

I have the Shangri-la double and it does not bounce you when your other half moves! (at least I haven't noticed it)  I believe Vango have some high tech name for the way they have prevented the bounce, and it seems to work.  I really rate the mattress but can't comment on your other option

We have a Vango comfort 5 double, which is very warm and comfortable, but a bugger to pack down and quite big when packed (as will the Shangri La 10 be), so we mainly use an Outwell reel one which is twice the thickness and packs to 1/3 the size and take a battery pump.

No issues with either on getting bumped around.

From experience with 2 singles, someone ends up down the gap, even with the Thermarest couple kit.

Exped megamat, more comfortable than my bed at home. Two singles couples together, never an issue with the join.

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions, seems like a bit of a mix of opinions! I currently have a double airbed that has a buikt in pump but it takes ages to pump up.

I think I prefer to get a double mattress but not sure if self inflating or one that pumps up easier would be the way to go
