I have a Mountain Equipment Heilo 2 tent ( http://www.gear-zone.co.uk/eshop/Mountain-Equipment-Hielo-2.html ) which i am tempted to sell so i can buy ice climbing gear. It has only been used twice. But i absolutely love the tent. Is it worth selling the tent. I was thinking that i shouldnt sell the tent because when i start ice climbing i will need it for some where to sleep. But if i do sell the tent and get about £200-£250 for it then i can buy Grivel G-14 Crampons Plus La Sportavia Nepal evo gtx boots with the money that i have all ready. What do you think?

I think the evo's are overkill for uk and alpine stuff. Could be wrong through.

About selling the tent? Up to you sir.

Josh.

In reply to freelancer_85: Do you have a tent if do how often do you use it when you are ice climbing/alpine climbing.

I have a tent, I don't ice climb or do alpine stuff, yet, but this summer, when I go to the alps, I won't use my tent when I'm in the mountians, but will use it when I'm in the valleys.

How often are you going to use the crampons and boots? A few times a year? Keep the tent, get a job

Josh.

In reply to Flaming_climber:

Keep your tent and borrow the money to buy your axes and crampons, you will get more use out of the tent anyway and may only get two or three days ice climbing with your axes.

If you sell your tent it will be like paying £150 extra for the axes, what you will lose on the purchase price.

of course, it all depends on how often you can afford to get to ice climbs, but it seems you do not have much to spare so not that often I think.

In reply to sutty: I start university in september/october, so i will be able to climb every term, and i will be able to goto the alps or Rjukan this summer. So i will be able to climb a far few times. My parents said they will pay for a summer holiday, but not for the equipment.

I'd say get a job & earn some money. It doesn't take that long to get £250 & you'll never get back the value of your tent when it's 2nd hand.
