Is this a bonkers idea?

Wondering if with the screwgates as a basis it would be a simple change and allow ultra compact hybrid straight/wiregate draws (like Shadows) 

Weight is not that important when sport climbing as you only have to lug draws, and if weight really was the most important thing to you there is nothing precluding you from using ultra lightweight trad draws. Seems like a product without a need?

If weight is such an issue on a sport climb, that 50g separates you from success and failure, then you just pre-place the draws and save 1.5kg instead.

Or just eat a salad for breakfast and water the plants pre-climb.
