In reply to dking02: I don't think there will be any, certaintly not assessments. The award is designed for people to take a leadership role in the mountains. A skills course would probably be much better suited for a 14 year old.
As already mentioned, he/she needs to be 18 for the official course.
Many people, including me (www.jbmountainskills.co.uk), offer skills courses. If you're not accompanying them though, check they're AALA registered because a lot of smaller providers like myself won't be.
