Went proper birding last week and forgot my camera battery. Next trip out - forgot memory card!   The female stonechat has been hanging about all winter. But the weather has been either rubbish or very rubbish. Apart for New Year’s Eve, on my dog walk, when I managed these photos. And a lovely buzzard.

Whooper swans from before Xmas. Ribble estuary marshes.

Nice buzzard - happy new year - if only all small brown birds were as obliging as Stonechats.

My win for the day was one of the local Kingfishers, but due to it's normal haunt being full of fast murky muddy water it had moved to the duck pond.  Always nice to see!

In reply to Bobling:

Seen two kingfishers recently. One was on a pond, sometimes see it there during flood waters like yours. But the oddest one was on New Years day, when I turned off a road onto a farm track and one whizzed over my head, a long way from any fishy areas.
