Bored of Brexit? Think that May's deal means the end of the negotiations? Think again: the implementation and interpretation of all of this has still to be negotiated and it will be an ongoing thing:

Nearly 600-page legally-binding withdrawal agreement:

26-page non-legally-binding statement on future political relations:

I've heard it said that we will be negotiating and making deals with other countries, including those in Europe, for at least a decade. I'm a bit gloomy about seeing Britain recover from this mess in my lifetime.

In reply to ericinbristol:

The dumb thing is that we will almost certainly be negotiating and agreeing deals which are the same as existing arrangements we have as members of the EU.

In reply to Hat Dude:

Correct - that has been happening already

How long will it be before the government claims responsibility for a deal with any country - no matter how small - that's demonstrably better than what we have already?

Ever?

In reply to Hat Dude:a proviso of the recent EU japJa deal is that it is, by default, the best deal .  If other deals are better, it automatically alters to be equal or best

Isn't this the most extraordinary phenomenon ever, that you tell people you're sweeping away their European citizenship (and all the rights that go with it), and say: in return for erasing that from your passport we'll change the colour of its cover ... and ... ... some gullible victims ACTUALLY LIKE IT.

Q: What's your ideal car - Ferrari? Mercedes-Benz? Tesla?

A: A blue one.

The flaw with this analogy is that you can't keep your wonderful thoroughbred car. Your Ferrari is snatched away from you and you're given a red Austin Maxi. And you're then meant to go into raptures about its colour.

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

And the irony is, we could have blue passports in the EU, if we chose too...

In reply to Snyggapa:

Yes ... sigh.
