"I understand Cristiano. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand, I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester United, but if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected."

He may understand Cristiano, but he clearly doesn't understand Fergie if he's poking his head above the battlements like that! How long before he's bundled out the back door once Berbatov arrives?

That line "... if what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected." is more than a bit rich. Shouldn't the four remaining years on his contract be respected, too?... Does anybody care? To be honest, I'm not sure that I do, all that much, but I feel the need to get angry about something this morning.

In reply to Clauso: Tevez has a good point though, I think he's 100% right in trying to get nancy boy to move to warmer, drier, nicer climes

You should focus your anger on that tw*t Ronaldo.

In reply to Clauso: You could always forget all about the Salford reds and support a proper club like city, only one team in Manchester

In reply to Clauso: Bit silly of Tevez to incur Fergie's wrath (!), but, if Ronaldo wants to move to his dream club, I don't think anyone should try to stop him. Money runs football these days - contracts are hardly worth anything - and United would get a massive sum in return.

And, at the risk of incurring YOUR wrath, United are hardly whiter than white when it comes to 'tapping up' players...

In reply to Clauso:

Tevez agitating for a move as well?
In reply to Marc C: I suspect a deal has been done with Ronaldo. 1 more year with Utd then he gets his dream contract sorry move.

Wrong side of the Ship Canal, the 'Trafford' in Old Trafford is a bit of a give away.

Do you think he'll wander through Manchester Airport shouting "Free at last, free at last, freeee at last...." with the scars from his leg irons and manacles still visible and the violent weals on his back slowly healing.........

In reply to Clauso:

There was me thinking that most ManUre fans were sick of him and would rather flog Ronald for £70m and get 3 or 4 top class players in his place.

I think Fergie will have noted his pen miss in the CL final?! His coats on a shoogly peg i reckon.

In reply to dek:

He probably noted his 42 goals from the wing as well...

I would personally glad that the little imp is probably going to stay, as it is the subject of a wager between myself and my barber.

It was the gushy I love ManU I'm moving nowhere shite he came outwith on the touchline aftwerwards that must be pissing the fans off. I'm no fan of badge kising cocks like that, Real Madrid deserve him ...

I suspect the apparent furore in Man U camps regarding The Slave will be short-lived. I suspect he will stay a while longer and milk it. ManU fans are a fickle bunch and will be crowing about his skills by xmas.

Why?

I don't think he's done that much wrong. I don't want him to go, but any portugese/spainish player will naturally be drawn to the likes of Madrid/Barca, like any english player naturally drawn to United or Liverpool.

In reply to IainRUK:

Well if you're happy with his behaviour and comments that's fine.

... And another thing that gets my mad up. I've never forgiven Tevez for that ridiculous goal celebration featuring the child's dummy either... And he's Argentinian. His cards are marked as far as I'm concerned.

Can Tevez say he is a former slave because he used to be owned by a third party?

In reply to Swig: I'm not overly happy, but still don't hold anything against him. He's trying to engineer a move which I think is understandable. He's young and poorly guided by agents and people around him, I actually feel quite sorry for him as I think he's a bit of a loner at United. It was quite obvious at the CL final, that although the players definately get on with him, he isn't their talisman figure that I think craves.

70m for 3 - 4 top class players? Where would you play them? Still 11 on a pitch? I think we have decent strength in depth throughout most of the team, another centre half, centre forward and maybe a winger would add strength, but we'd struggle to strengthen our starting XI. A few years back I thought we went too far down that road and you could never guess the starting XI.

I think that's Liverpools problem, one of the best squads in the league but I do think their starting XI is still behind United and Chelsea (hence the league positions).

In reply to IainRUK: I'm a bit confused about ManU/Fergie getting so wound up about Real Madrid and Ronaldo but essentially doing the same thing with Berbatov - maybe I'm missing something. It's all a bit ridiculous as surely everyone knows that contracts don't really count for much these days.

Mostly I think it's been more about filling air time on Sky Sports News than anything else.

Agree on Liverpool. Keane would improve the first XI and maybe Barry just over Alonso but we haven't even managed these signings yet and not much real quality beyond that.
 Swig 24 Jul 2008
In reply to IainRUK:

If he's a loner that would like to better integrated into the squad perhaps that's down to his ego. Doesn't seem to celebrate his goals with the team so much.

I agree 3-4 more top class players might not be a good idea. Keeping them all in form can be problematic.
 Swig 24 Jul 2008
In reply to alanw:

Alonso wasn't at his best last season. But it was hard for him to play himself into form as he didn't get played. I'm glad he wasn't sold.
 alanw 24 Jul 2008
In reply to Swig: True. Took him a while to recover from the injury but by the end of the season I though he was getting his form back. I just hope he's up for it this season.

Agree and Spurs are moaning about us doing that, yet they were accused of similar by Seville and also for snatching up promising youngsters for peanuts from Palace. All clubs tap up, we've had tapping up scnadels at local league sides in North Wales.

Liverpool have probably two world class players while chelsea and Man U have a team on the pitch full.

I hope this season they get beaten into 5th but god knows who will do it, outside punt on Portsmouth?
