Had a great late afternoon/evening dog walk. First off, daffodils and snowdrops and then the tawny owl roosting. Lots of singing robins and a bumble bee (saw a butterfly earlier today). Then saw a female stonechat. Great views but quite a way off. Beautiful bird and spent ages watching it. Then off to try and spot a barn owl but the light was starting to fade. Saw few roe deer en route.

The way of spread its wings meant it was shielding its prey.

Bit blurry, but it caught a small rat. Brilliant.

Thanks. Been so dull recently so nice to have some sun. I got digressed with the stonechat though. Only ever seen one other on ‘the patch’.

Good job on the gold crest they are jittery birds that never seem to stop moving.

They often come close, but as you say they are jittery , camouflaged and that small it makes photos hard. Had one in the garden today - first one. And the odd blackcap.

I'm amazed that you can get any photos of them, thanks for sharing.
