Or do anything other than argue online. It's remarkable thing to be alive.

I start to get sucked in, and then I think 'Hang on a minute, what am I doing???'

It seems kind of odd to argue online, or unhealthy at least, almost definately so I think.

Much healthier to be at peace...

A few people who lived to be very old were on TV, and they mentioned it being less healthy in thier opinion to hold onto grudges and to be not at peace.

I think it can be good to do it online........... sometimes.
Social niceties say we try not to disagree too much when sat opposite someone. So arguing online can be a pure form of argument in it's literal sense. So long as it doesn't get personal!

Now there I agree. I prefer to deal with a thing and move on from it.

Precisely. So why do those theists insist on more?

Because we're all different. Me and my brothers were brought up as Catholics by my mum with a quietly athiest dad, and non of use have continued with religion. If we were a bit different we might have been religious.

With some things we can't change how other people think. Work towards secularism in the UK if religion concerns you, which is something productive at least, but we'll still all always be different.

How's the cup of tea? ()
OP Timmd 07 Dec 2012
In reply to Robert Durran:Should add i'm very glad to be free from Catholicism, it's lovely not to feel guilty anymore. It's given me an insight into how some people need religion, and i'm not convinced how usefull online discussions are in changing people's points of view on it.

You might as well shout at a mirror I think, to be honest.

There's already a couple of religion thread anyway, this is *my* thread, no more religious talk here.()

In reply to Timmd:

IF.....

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Have I chased people away? Cooo, look at all the space on this thread. ()
