Whilst I agree in principle, giving everyone the opportunity to vote is the only way of adopting democracy. That way if enough dickheads vote, maybe enough intelligent people unhappy with the outcome will protest against this by voting themselves to get their opinions across.
Personally, I think there should be a list of say five to ten core intentions from each party eligible at the polling station which you have to agree or disagree with, the answers to which will decide your vote for you - based of course on the assumption that the party in question will indeed carry-out said intentions once in power.
